Not everyone was happy Bruno Mars took home multiple Grammy awards on Sunday night.

Taking to Twitter after it was announced that Mars had swept the board at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon slammed the awards show.

In a series of tweets posted after the band played a show in Mexico City, Vernon wrote: “Looks like Grammies are still something serious musicians should not take seriously!"

He continued: “Absolutely NO offence to Mr Mars, but you absolutely have to be sh**ing me.”

The musician then tweeted “To be factual, Mr Mars made a name in the INDUSTRY by making hits OUT of hits of yesteryear,” before linking to an article by The Onion.

“SO...no real need to be mad, even at the Grammies. SZA? KENDRICK? I’d say move on from this sh** show.

“Felt like a Democratic Party Party, not R’n’Roll,” Vernon concluded.

But Vernon, who has been nominated four times and has won two Grammys - for best new artist and best alternative album - wasn’t finished attacking the award show.

His next tweet was directed at Recording Academy president Neil Portnow and the disappointing lack of female winners, a question many other viewers brought up post-show.

He tweeted, alongside a quote of Portnow’s, in which he said women needed to “step up” if women want to move forward next year: “While some awesome musicians do win, what is WINNING? Sh**y Coach language.”

Vernon then expressed his disappointment with the ceremony’s decision to offer solo performances to all of the album of the year nominees except Lorde.

The decision, which was defended by Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich, didn’t sit well with Vernon.

Regarding their choice to not offer Lorde a solo performance, Ehrlich had said, “These shows are a matter of choices. We have a box and it gets full. She had a great album. There’s no way we can really deal with everybody.”

Vernon shared his opinion on Erlich’s comments in a tweet, stating: “- I have to say Ken Elrich is a d**k producer. I’m with Lorde on this, hard. Ken told us Holocene (roty, soty nominee in 2011 (?)) was ‘too long and slow and that we’d lose 4-6 million viewers cause of that’ - and that he’s broken a lot of careers on the show, so I should listen.”

Vernon’s blatant disapproval for the award show, which aired Sunday night, and the winners, came after he reminded his followers “The Grammies are for the music industry. Music, itself, is for everywhere else and everyone else. Good to remember.”

However, the Bon Iver musician also admitted that he hadn't even bothered to watch the show.
