Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese

The first trailer for Martin Scorsese‘s new film about Bob Dylan has been released, just nine days before its debut on Netflix.

Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story tells the tale of Dylan’s 1975-1976 Rolling Thunder Revue concert tour, during which he performed in a series of small venues with a troupe of other musicians such as Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Roger McGuinn.

The clip, which lasts for two and a half minutes, includes archive footage as well as photos from the Seventies, including a brief video of Dylan driving his own bus tour, hoping aloud that he and the rest of his troupe arrive to Boston on time for a scheduled show.

The trailer includes concert footage of Dylan performing in whiteface make-up with a flower-adorned hat – his trademark get-up throughout the Rolling Thunder Revue tour.

It also highlights some of the interviews given by Dylan and Baez for Scorsese’s documentary. “Joan Baez and me could sing together in our sleep,” muses Dylan, now 78, right before the trailer cuts to an archive video of them duetting.

Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story is Scorsese’s second film dedicated to Dylan.

His previous one, No Direction Home, told the story of Dylan’s rise to fame as well as his decision to go electric in the mid-Sixties.
