Aquaman - Trailer 2

Jason Momoa is in negotiations to join the cast of Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune.

According to Deadline, the Aquaman star will join the already confirmed likes of Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin.

Villeneuve’s film will offer a second adaptation of Frank Herbert’s famous sci-fi novel, following David Lynch’s 1984 film starring Kyle MacLachlan and Patrick Stewart. Filming is set to take place in Budapest and Jordan this spring.

The book’s protagonist, Paul Atreides, set to be played by Chalamet, whose noble family accepts the stewardship of the planet Arrakis, an inhospitable wasteland that is also the only source of a rare drug known as “spice”, only to be betrayed by the galactic empire.

Momoa will play Duncan Idaho, the Swordmaster of the Ginaz in the service of Pauls’ father, Duke Leto, set to be played by Isaac.

Villeneuve produces the project, having also written the film’s script, alongside A Star is Born‘s Eric Roth and Prometheus‘s Jon Spaihts.
